Position: Floor Support Supervisor

Floor Support Associates are the face of Habitat Hamilton in the ReStore, responsible for providing prompt, professional, friendly, and accurate support in all interactions with customers, staff, and volunteers.  Working with volunteers and other Habitat staff, the Floor Support personnel can participate in all facets of daily ReStore operations, from handling donations and processing to customer service and sales. All Habitat Hamilton employees are ambassadors of the Habitat brand and advocates of our mission, vision, and values. 

 

The Floor Support Associate may be involved in the new store construction, including demolition and set-up. 

 

This part-time position requires Saturday availability and reports directly to the Director of ReStore Operations. In addition to a great work environment, Habitat for Humanity offers:  

  • $19.00/ hr livable wage

A successful criminal background check is required for this position.   

 

Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Clean, test, repackage, refurbish and repair donated items  

  • Ensure the accurate pricing of products before moving on the sales floor 

  • Assist in customer service on the floor as well as at the cash desk as required 

  • Manage the open and close process of the POS, including maintaining store float and reconciling end-of-day reports when needed 

  • Answering phone and helping customers in a friendly manner as needed 

  • Keep the receiving bay organized and neat, and move products to the floor  

  • Transport metals for recycling and refuse to the waste transfer station 

  • Actively pursue safety improvements, keep workspace areas clean and tidy and report any hazards  

  • Provide direction to volunteers in support of the work of the ReStore for a friendly, engaging experience 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 lbs.  

  • Occasional pushing and pulling of racks/carts weighing 50 to 250 pounds using 4 – 10 lbs. of force. 

  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending and twisting and occasional kneeling are needed to handle or inspect the merchandise and assist customers. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in a physically demanding job preferred  

  • Previous experience providing customer service and using a POS system preferred  

  • High school diploma preferred  

  • Previous experience at a donated goods store would be considered an asset  

  • G class Ontario driver’s license 

  • Successfully passes a criminal background check  

  • A reliable team player would be ideal
