Position: Coordinator of ReStore Operations (Assistant Manager)

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton is excited to share that they will open a new ReStore location in Hamilton and are looking to grow their team! If you are a hands-on people leader, passionate about helping others, we’d love to meet you!  

 

The Coordinator of ReStore Operations will be involved in the new store construction, including demolition and set-up. Once the store is opened, the Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ReStore, including back-office support and providing leadership to staff and volunteers.  Primary responsibilities include providing donors support over the phone, booking appointments, contributing to the safety of the ReStore, producing tax receipts, managing online sales, and contributing to the planning of volunteer scheduling and engagement.   

 

Additional responsibilities include merchandising products, customer and donor support, and leading volunteers as required.  All Habitat Hamilton employees are ambassadors of the Habitat brand and advocates of our mission, vision, and values. 

 

This full-time position requires Saturday availability and reports directly to the Director of ReStore Operations. In addition to a competitive salary, Habitat for Humanity offers:

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all day-to-day activities for the Office, Cash, Floor and Warehouse departments.  

  • Provide leadership to the team regarding the effective operation of the sales floor, warehouse, and cash desk  

  • Communicate with customers regarding online sales through Kijiji, Facebook and Shopify, as well as fulfill orders 

  • Provide orientation to new volunteers and support volunteer engagement 

  • Attend, participate, and lead team meetings as required 

  • Opening and closing of cash, including maintaining store float and reconciling end-of-day reports 

  • Assist customers through the in-store checkout process, including ringing up purchases, accepting payment and making change 

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of merchandise 

  • Merchandise products and contribute to the cleanliness of ReStore 

  • Facilitate walk-in donations from the public, including assessments and recording donations 

  • Assist Habitat Hamilton Truck Driver when needed 

  • Participate as an active member of the Safety Committee 

  • Other duties as assigned  

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry products weighing less than 5 lbs frequently.  

  • Will occasionally need to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 lbs.  

  • Occasional pushing and pulling of racks/carts weighing 50 to 250 pounds using 4 – 10 lbs. of force. 

  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending and twisting and occasional kneeling are needed to: 

    • handle &/or inspect the merchandise 

    • validate work processes  

    • train/coach/counsel the team

    • assist customers

 

Qualifications: 

  • At least three years of experience leading a team in either a busy retail store, grocery store, greenhouse, etc.  

  • Post-secondary diploma preferred 

  • Previous experience at a donated goods store would be considered an asset  

  • G class Ontario driver’s license 

  • Successfully passes a criminal background check  

  • Reliable, self-starter with a desire to learn 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
